Typically every 6 to 8 weeks as a minimum. Keep in mind that every horse is a unique individual. Some horses hooves grow faster then others. Also, the time of year can effect the hoof growth pattern. Your horses feet should be tended to on a very regular bases. Every day I pick my horses feet and look for any loose nails, ware and hoof temp. It is good to know how to feel for heat in your horses feet. This can help you catch possible hoof problems in the early stages.

Signs your horse needs to be reset are:

* Loose nails
* A lost shoe

Certain species of birds act as reservoirs for the virus, and certain species of mosquitoes act as vectors. People and animals can become infected from the bite of mosquitoes that are infected with the virus. Mosquitoes may pick up the virus when they bite, or take a blood meal, from wild birds that are infected with West Nile Virus. Those mosquitoes may then transmit the virus to people and other animals when biting to take a blood meal.
Person-to-person transmission has also been documented in 2002 through:
-Blood transfusion and organ donation
-Breast milk

I flew up to Indiana by myself this summer . I did two of my favorite things ...................................................................................
- saw my cousins
and of course
- TOOK CARE OF AND RODE HORSES
The horse we rode is named Rockie or Rock star he is the old wise fire breathing dragon of the stables. He would see what he could get away with . But he did crazy things like wee would trot then walk and then stop then go into a full gallop naturally I dropped the reins and grabbed the saddle AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On June 22-24 I had my second show. We arrived at Ledges early and schooled all the horses. I was so happy that we were there. My horse has been lame and our last show we only did flat. When we got back to the hotel we all went swimming and it felt like a dream come true. That was until the next day. When we got there my friend warmed up my horse. I got dressed, polished my boots, buttoned up my coat. Being at a horse show is the best thing ever. When my friend came back and I asked how my horse was, but by her frown and the shaking of her head I knew she was lame.

I am training to for a fall horse show and a August horseshow. But who knows what will happen at these shows. The reason i say that is because my last horse show did not go so well. my trusty horse Zoey will aways pull through (hopefully)

BROWNING — A spiritual connection is said to exist between the Blackfeet people and horses, going back more than a century, when tribal members were considered some of the best horsemen among the Plains Indian tribes.

That connection is still strong, and it was on display Thursday during a memorial rodeo that has become a fitting kick-off to the tribe's biggest celebration, the 59th annual North American Indian Days, which continues here through Sunday.

"Horses and Indians are together, especially here in Blackfeet Country," said Rhonda Michael, a rodeo organizer.
